Troop Formations Guide — How to Win Smarter, Not Just Stronger

In Kingshot, troop type balance is absolutely critical — not just how strong you are! Even if you have a huge power advantage, the wrong formation can cause you to lose fights you should easily win.

There are three troop types:

  • 🛡️ Infantry (Tanks — soak damage)

  • 🏇 Cavalry (Fast hitters — mobile)

  • 🏹 Archers (Long-range damage)

And they follow a Rock-Paper-Scissors counter system:

🔥 Quick Tip: Who Counters Who?

Kingshot Troops Counters
  • Infantry > Cavalry

  • Cavalry > Archers

  • Archers > Infantry

Choosing the right troop balance gives you a huge advantage — you can beat stronger players by exploiting troop counters!

📖 Real Battle Example

Yesterday, one of our members with 10M power attacked a player with just 4.8M power.
Easy win, right? Nope.

Our member’s formation was heavy on cavalry and archers (44.35% cavalry, 54.02% archers, and only 1.61% infantry).
The opponent had a balanced formation — about 33% each troop type.

Despite having less than half the power, the opponent won the fight because his formation exploited counters properly!

🛡️ How to Set Better Formations

  • Always scout before you attack! Check enemy troop types.

  • Adapt your army based on what you’re facing.

  • In general PvP or conquest, try to balance your army if you’re unsure what you’re facing.

  • In open-world fights: Counter what you see!

If they have lots of cavalry? Bring more infantry.
If they bring archers? Load up on cavalry.
And if you see tons of infantry? Deploy more archers!

🏁 Final Thought

Power is important, but formations and counters win wars

Smart players dominate – not just the strong ones.

  1. This is something I’m learning now, but its a good idea to train more infantry than any others as these will die first when you do PvP. This way you can maintain your equal distribution of all three troop types after a big fight.

Remember to send out 33:33:34 ratio of infantry, cavalry, and archers in solo and rally attacks!

    1. Really? For single strike attacks, like beasts and terrors, I’ve found 2:3:5 infantry cavalry archers a far more effective balance.
